Pastoral Care and Student Wellbeing
At Good Shepherd Lutheran College, we believe every student thrives when they feel known, supported and connected. Our pastoral care and wellbeing programs work together to create a safe, inclusive environment where students are encouraged to grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
From daily Care Groups to College Houses, wellbeing initiatives and restorative practices, every aspect of College life is designed to help students flourish.
Care Groups
Care Groups provide students with a sense of belonging and connection from the very beginning of their day. Led by a dedicated teacher, these small groups offer regular opportunities for check-ins, encouragement and relationship building, ensuring every student has a trusted adult who knows them well.
College Houses
Our House system fosters school spirit, leadership and connection across year levels. Through friendly competition, service opportunities and whole-school events, students develop pride in their House while building friendships, teamwork and a strong sense of community.
Student Wellbeing
Wellbeing is intentionally embedded throughout the College experience. Through dedicated Wellbeing Days, age-appropriate learning, guest speakers and practical activities, students develop resilience, emotional awareness and the skills to build positive relationships and navigate life's challenges with confidence.
Positive Behaviour and Restorative Practices
Our approach to behaviour is grounded in our College values and our commitment to developing students of character, compassion and integrity. Through clear expectations, positive relationships and restorative practices, students are encouraged to reflect on their choices, understand the impact of their actions and take responsibility for repairing relationships. We aim to create a community where respect, kindness and care for others are lived out each day.
Staff support
Our Wellbeing Coordinators, pastoral leaders and wider support team work closely with students and families to provide guidance and care whenever it is needed. Whether celebrating successes or navigating challenges, we are committed to ensuring every student feels heard, valued and supported throughout their educational journey.
Faith in Action
As a Lutheran College, our faith is at the heart of how we care for one another. Through worship, service opportunities and everyday interactions, students learn the importance of caring for others and making a positive difference in their community.
