'Caught in a Coat Hanger'

This Artwork is inspired by the artist Branch whose art reveals society and dark sides of power in the world with acrylic styling. His artwork against the abortion laws in the USA, influenced me into expressing the unsafe and disgusting laws through lino printing and acrylic.

This artwork speaks with social upheaval, as creating the shape of the USA in coat hanger form to bring the outrageous laws on women’s bodies. I lino printed a violent red, and then used a silver acrylic paint to create a coat hanger. A coat hanger represents the use of unsafe abortions, and how the law is restricting saving women’s suffering, this shows my message of how laws shouldn’t control ones bodies.

I chose to do this around abortion as the choice for women’s own bodies are not being heard and I am against all laws that are against a women’s own choice.
