'Sponge-Buff'

My final artwork was inspired by my message of a man’s self-image on themselves after they get to a certain point in their life. The piece shows how men are trapped in the image of them being undeveloped like “SpongeBob”, vs the changes happening to them throughout puberty they just cannot see yet.

I chose the colour yellow as it reflects the character’s deceit “misinterpreting of concealing the changes they are going through”, then using a deeper blue colour to contrast with the yellow and make the centre point of the piece stand out more. The use of lino printing was inspired by Kathe Kollwitz and her use of heavy black to outline and create emotion with the centre-piece.
