Welcome Mrs Joanne Pulsford - new Head of Junior School, Howard Springs

It was wonderful to introduce our new Head of School - Howard Springs Junior Campus, Mrs Joanne Pulsford during assembly on the first day of Term 3 2022. Welcome to Good Shepherd - God's richest blessings for your first day here and every day forward. It is delightful to have you on board. Thank you for your lovely letter to our community:

"It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as the newly appointed Head of Junior School, Howard Springs. I wish to thank Cheryl Gunn and all the incredible teaching and administration staff for the wonderful job they have been doing and for making me feel so welcome. The newsletters I have read showcase the exemplary teaching and learning taking place at the College and the commitment it has towards developing each student to be a successful learner and valuable member of the wider community. It is an absolute joy to join the school community and I am so excited about the journey ahead.

A little bit about me! I have moved here from Perth where I was working at Kingsway Christian College. I began my teaching career in the Kimberley of Western Australia before I moved to Darwin where I taught at Marrara Christian School and studied at Charles Darwin University, (which was Northern Territory University at the time). From there I moved to Charleville in Queensland, where my husband is from, teaching at Charleville School of Distance Education.

I moved back to Perth with my family in 2010 where I began working at Kingsway Christian College. The roles I have held there include Deputy Head of Primary Pastoral, Deputy Head of Primary Curriculum and more recently Head of Area Year 5 and 6.

My husband Rob, who was a nurse when I met him many years ago in the Kimberley, looks forward to joining me up here at every available opportunity. He now works for the Western Australian Country Health Service and we have three grown children. Charlie who is studying commerce online and currently staying with his grandparents on their outback sheep and cattle property near Charleville, Sophie who is in her second year of nursing and Hannah who is in her second year of physiotherapy. They too look forward to spending time in Darwin on their breaks.

I am excited about joining the Good Shepherd community. If you see me wandering around the College, please stop me and introduce yourselves. Over the coming weeks I will be organising several coffee mornings to meet as many parents as possible. I really want to understand the culture of Good Shepherd and feel part of this amazing community".
